Matrix Lifeline Pregnancy Center's History

Matrix Office

Matrix Lifeline was formally organized in January 1974, in Bloomington Indiana, eventually establishing four chapters in the state. As a result of reorganization, two chapters closed and two remain today as independent centers. Matrix Lifeline is a private organization funded by donations from churches, individuals and groups. In July 1978, Matrix Lifeline of Greater Lafayette was organized, and it opened a headquarters in downtown Lafayette. The organization activated its first telephone line in December 1978. In September 1985, the office was moved to a walk-in center provided by St. Elizabeth Hospital on 14th Street. In April 1994, Matrix moved to its current location at 1824 Maple Street, after a temporary interim at 1100 North 9th Street.
